Day 1 Tour Commencement - Darwin
Upon your arrival in Darwin today you will be greeted by our friendly and professional tour director and tour driver. This afternoon we enjoy a city tour including the Darwin National Museum and Aviation Heritage Centre. We also visit Cullen Bay, Fannie Bay and the Stokes Hill Wharf area. We check-in to The Mantra Esplanade Hotel late this afternoon. Enjoy the premier location of the hotel overlooking Darwin Harbour from the Esplanade. This evening enjoy a welcome dinner in the hotel restaurant.Day 2 Litchfield National Park - Kakadu - Jabiru
This morning we head out to Litchfield National Park. The park is characterised by pockets of dense monsoon rainforest and cascading waterfalls. Enjoy a visit to Wangi Falls before continuing on to Kakadu National Park. We arrive in Jabiru late afternoon to set up our first campsite at the Aurora Kakadu Lodge campgrounds. We camp here for the next two nights.Day 3 Ubirr Rock - East Alligator River Cruise
This morning we enjoy a 90-minute cruise on the East Alligator River. Following the cruise visit Ubirr Rock to view some Aboriginal Art Sites and admire the sensational view over the Arnhem Land Floodplains. We return to Jabiru early in the afternoon for some lunch and a visit to the Bowali Visitor Centre. We return to our campsite later in the afternoon.Day 4 Yellow Waters Cruise - Katherine
This morning enjoy a 90-minute cruise on Yellow Waters Billabong at Cooinda, an extensive wetlands area at the end of Jim Jim Creek. Experience this diverse and sublimely beautiful area and its associated wildlife from your canopied cruise boat. After our cruise we enjoy a picnic lunch and a visit to the Warradjan Cultural Centre. This afternoon we journey south west towards Katherine where we spend the night at the All Seasons Resort.Day 5 Katherine River Gorge - Kununurra
This morning we travel out to Nitmiluk National Park for our 2 hour cruise on the spectacular Katherine River Gorge. After the cruise we head back into Katherine and commence our journey to Kununurra. We pass through Victoria River and Timber Creek before crossing into Western Australia. We arrive into Kununurra late afternoon and set up our camp at Kimberley-land Campground for the next two nights.Day 6 Ord River Cruise - Kununurra
This morning enjoy a boat cruise up the Ord River, from Lake Kununurra to the Dam Wall of Lake Argyle. We return to Kununurra late morning via the Durack Homestead museum. This afternoon enjoy a tour of Kununurra including the surrounding Ord Irrigation farming area. This afternoon enjoy some free time in Kununurra.Day 7 Wyndham - El Questro Wilderness Park
Departing Kununurra this morning we drive towards Wyndham for a visit to Five Rivers Lookout. Enjoy the spectacular view over Cambridge Gulf before heading to the world renowned El Questro Wilderness Park. Stop off at Zebedee Thermal Springs before arriving at Emma Gorge Resort. We overnight here in up-market tented safari cabins with ensuite facilities.Day 8 Gibb River Road - Manning Gorge
This morning we have the opportunity to walk up to Emma Gorge to the base of the waterfall. Enjoy a refreshing swim in the crystal clear water. (This walk is optional - medium level of fitness required).
After breakfast we commence our journey along the Gibb River Road, travelling through the heart of the Kimberley from El Questro to Derby. Along the way there is some amazing scenery and spectacular gorges. We arrive at Manning Gorge late afternoon for a swim and to set up camp.
Day 9 King Leopold Ranges - Tunnel Creek - Windjana Gorge
This morning we depart Manning Gorge to continue our journey along the Gibb River Road. Enjoy a visit to Tunnel Creek early in the afternoon where we are able to walk through a 750m underground river that has cut its way under the Napier Range.
We depart Tunnel Creek after some lunch and arrive at Windjana Gorge late in the afternoon to set up our overnight camp. Enjoy a stroll through the gorge before the sun sets.
Day 10 Windjana Gorge - Derby - Broome
This morning we enjoy another walk into Windjana Gorge to admire the amazing birdlife and crocodiles. After breakfast we depart the Gorge and begin heading towards Derby where we have a town tour and a visit to the Boab Prison Tree.
We continue on to Broome arriving early in the afternoon to check-in to the Broome Sanctuary Resort where we spend the next 2 nights. Tonight we enjoy a magical sunset from Cable Beach before having dinner at the resort.
Day 11 Broome Sightseeing
This morning enjoy breakfast at the resort before heading off on a town tour of Broome. We will visit the Japanese Cemetery, Gantheaume Point and Chinatown. We also visit the Pearl Luggers Museum where you will gain an insight into the Pearling History of Broome.
After some lunch enjoy a free afternoon. You may wish to soak up the sun on Cable Beach, do some shopping in Chinatown or use any of the first class facilities at the resort.
Day 12 Fitzroy Crossing - Geikie Gorge Cruise
This morning we depart Broome en route to Fitzroy Crossing. We arrive early in the afternoon to set-up camp before heading out to Geikie Gorge for a 1-hour cruise on the Fitzroy River. Over the years, the river has carved through an ancient limestone barrier reef, exposing age old fossils on the walls of the gorge. We return to Fitzroy Crossing later in the afternoon for our overnight camp.Day 13 Halls Creek - Bungle Bungles
We depart Fitzroy Crossing this morning en route to Purnululu National Park (better known as the Bungle Bungles). We stop off at Halls Creek for some morning tea and supplies before continuing on to Purnululu National Park. We arrive at our campsite late afternoon. Soak up the superb atmosphere of the Bungle Bungles as we watch a magnificent sunset.Day 14 Cathedral Gorge - Echidna Chasm
Today we explore Cathedral Gorge. The walk into the gorge is approximately 1-hour return (medium level of fitness required). A dry creek bed takes us from the domes up to the gorge where we have some time to admire its beauty.
We return to our campsite at approximately midday for some lunch before heading off to Echidna Chasm in the northern end of the park. We return to our campsite late afternoon for our second and final night in the Bungle Bungles.
Day 15 Bungle Bungles - Old Halls Creek - Halls Creek
Today we will be heading back out of the Bungle Bungles and down to Halls Creek. We will head out to Old Halls Creek to where there are remnants of the old township that existed in the late 1800's. Gold in Western Australia was first discovered at the location of Old Halls Creek in 1886. Driving back into Halls Creek we will check-in to the Kimberley Hotel for our overnight stay.Day 16 Tanami Desert - Wolfe Creek Meteorite Crater - Rabbit Flat
This morning we will stock-up on supplies before beginning our journey through the Tanami Desert. We stop off at the Wolfe Creek Meteorite Crater (road conditions permitting) before passing through Bililuna. We then cross the Sturt Creek and head east towards the Western Australia/ Northern Territory border and the Rabbit Flat Roadhouse. We will make our camp at the Roadhouse for this evening. Facilities are limited.Day 17 Tanami Desert - Tilmouth Wells
Today our journey continues south down the Tanami Track arriving at Tilmouth Wells Roadhouse mid to late afternoon. We arrive to set up our camp for the last time.Day 18 Alice Springs
This morning we pack up our camp for the last time and head into Alice Springs. We arrive late morning and check-in to the Alice Springs Resort. The remainder of the afternoon can be spent at your leisure. This evening we have our final dinner together at the hotel and reflect on an unforgettable journey through the Australian Outback.Day 19 Alice Springs - Home Ports
Today the tour concludes. Our crew will transport you to the airport or to another hotel if you are staying on in Alice Springs. Bon Voyage!
