Day 1 Home Ports - Broome
Upon your arrival in Broome today you will be greeted at the airport by your friendly and professional tour leader. This afternoon check-in to the Broome Sanctuary Resort at Cable Beach. This evening enjoy a magnificent sunset over the Indian Ocean from Cable Beach followed by a sumptuous welcome dinner at the resort.Day 2 Broome - Fitzroy Crossing
Depart Broome this morning en route to Fitzroy Crossing. After some lunch we will head out to Geikie Gorge for our 1-hour cruise on the Fitzroy River. See ancient fossils in the walls of the gorge indicating that it was once under the ocean many years ago. We head back to Fitzroy Crossing late afternoon for our overnight stay at the Fitzroy River Lodge.Day 3 Fitzroy Crossing - Bungle Bungles
Depart Fitzroy Crossing this morning along the Great Northern Highway en route to Halls Creek. Enjoy a brief town tour and some morning tea before continuing on to the entry point of the Purnululu National Park. Enjoy the scenic drive into the park to arrive at the Bellburn Wilderness Camp late afternoon. Here we enjoy a 2 night stay in newly upgraded permanent tented cabins, each with ensuite facilities. Tonight enjoy sitting around the camp fire before having dinner in the open-air restaurant.Day 4 Bungle Bungles - Cathedral Gorge - Echidna Chasm
After the flights we journey to Cathedral Gorge, noted as one of the most beautiful in the East Kimberley region. This afternoon visit Echidna Chasm before returning to the camp for our second night within the Bungle Bungles.
Day 5 Bungle Bungles - Kununurra - Ord River Irrigation Scheme
This morning we depart the Purnululu National Park en route to Kununurra. We arrive in time for some lunch at the Zebra Rock Gallery on the banks of the Ord River. After lunch and a look through the gallery we take a tour of Kununurra and the surrounding irrigated farming country. Learn about the Ord River Irrigation Scheme before checking in to the refurbished Kununurra Country Club, set in lush gardens in the middle of town. This evening enjoy dinner in the hotel restaurant.Day 6 Kununurra - El Questro Wilderness Park
This morning we enjoy our 3-hour cruise up the Ord River to the Dam Wall of Lake Argyle, a distance of approximately 60km. Enjoy some freshly made morning tea on the banks of the river along the way. Your guide will share their intricate knowledge of the river system with expert commentary.
At the conclusion of the cruise head back to Kununurra by road, stopping off at the historic Durack Homestead along the way. This afternoon enjoy some free time in the town centre before heading off to Wyndham. Enjoy a tour of the town and a visit to Five Rivers Lookout before heading to the world renowned El Questro Wilderness Park. We arrive at approximately 4.30pm and spend the next 2 nights at Emma Gorge Resort.
Day 7 El Questro Sightseeing
Today we explore parts of El Questro, beginning with an early morning champagne breakfast cruise on Chamberlain Gorge. This is without a doubt one of the highlights of the tour, and is worth getting up a little earlier for! A breakfast of bacon and egg muffins, fruit, tea and coffee is served while cruising up the gorge. Sparkling wine and orange juice is served on return. After the cruise we return to Emma Gorge via Zebedee Thermal Springs, where you'll have the opportunity for a swim amongst the Livingstonia Palms.
This afternoon we indulge in a gourmet lunch in the Emma Gorge restaurant before enjoying a free afternoon. Relax by the pool, enjoy a drink at the bar or walk up to the Emma Gorge waterfall (good level of fitness required). Either way, you are sure to appreciate some time to yourself in this magnificent Kimberley setting.
Day 8 El Questro - Gibb River Road - Mount Elizabeth Station
This morning we depart El Questro Wilderness Park and begin our long trek along one of the most remote roads in Australia, the Gibb River Road. This unsealed road traverses through the heart of the Kimberley and is close to 700km long. Late this afternoon we arrive at Mount Elizabeth Station, owned and run by Kimberley Pioneers Peter & Pat Lacy. Enjoy sitting around the campfire in this remote Kimberley Wilderness and enjoy meeting some true Kimberley characters. We spend the night here in comfortable private units with shared bathroom facilities.Day 9 Mount Elizabeth Station - Mornington Wildlife Sanctuary
This morning we learn a little about life on Mount Elizabeth Station before departing for Mornington Wildlife Sanctuary. En route we stop off at the picturesque Galvan's Gorge for a swim before taking the Tablelands Track into Mornington.
Once a dominant cattle station of the Kimberley, Mornington is now owned and operated by the Australian Wildlife Conservancy and is the largest non-government protected area in Australia. The sanctuary covers over 800,000 acres in the upper Fitzroy catchment and is recognized as one of the world's last true wilderness areas. The Sanctuary protects a range of ecosystems associated with the tropical savannah of northern Australia, including open eucalypt woodlands, savannah grasslands, rocky Spinifex-clad ranges, and fire-protected wet gullies.
We arrive at Mornington mid this afternoon and check-in to our unique tented Safari cabins (ensuited) which overlook Annie Creek. This evening receive an informative talk about the sanctuary in the open-air outdoor restaurant. Enjoy dinner and a few drinks around the campfire in this sensational wilderness location.
Day 10 Mornington Wildlife Sanctuary
Today is spent exploring the Sanctuary which will include a guided ecology tour with an AWC guide. With 180 species of bird, 600 species of plants, 17 ecosystems and numerous gorges there is plenty to see and do. We return to the wilderness lodge late afternoon.Day 11 Mornington - Windjana Gorge - Derby
This morning we depart the Mornington Wildlife Sanctuary and join back up with the Gibb River Road. We then journey through the King Leopold Ranges before stopping off at Windjana Gorge, created from the Lennard River cutting its way through the limestone of the Napier Range. In some places the walls of the gorge stand up to 100m above the wide alluvial floodplain below. The gorge is teeming with wildlife including freshwater crocodiles and many different bird species. We depart the gorge mid this afternoon and continue our journey on to Derby. Enjoy sunset from the Derby Wharf before checking in to the King Sound Resort.Day 12 Derby - Broome
This morning we take a town tour of Derby including the Boab Prison Tree, Myalls Bore and Cattle Trough and the Old Derby Gaol.
Later this morning we depart Derby en route to Broome, stopping off at the Willie Creek Pearl Farm for an informative tour. Here we discover how the Australian South Sea Pearl is produced. This afternoon we continue in to Broome and enjoy a town tour before checking in to the Broome Sanctuary Resort at Cable Beach for the final 2 nights of the tour. Before dinner we head down to the beach for a magnificent West Coast sunset.
Day 13 Broome Sightseeing
This morning enjoy a visit to the Pearl Luggers Museum for an insight into Broome's pearling history. Afterwards enjoy some free time in Chinatown before lunch at town beach. The remainder of the day can be spent at your leisure. You may wish to visit the beach or simply relax at the resort. Tonight we enjoy a farewell dinner at Zanders Restaurant on Cable Beach and look back upon an unforgettable adventure through the Kimberley.Day 14 Broome - Home Ports
Today we bid farewell to Broome and the Kimberley. This morning can be spent at your leisure before being transferred to the airport or to your accommodation if you are staying on in Broome. Bon Voyage!
