Day 1 Home Ports - Perth
Depart your home port this morning to arrive in Perth early in the afternoon. Upon your arrival at Perth Airport you will be met by our friendly and professional tour directors. This afternoon we take an informative tour of the city including scenic Kings Park. Here we enjoy some light refreshments and wander through the magnificent display of the area's wildflowers. We later check-in to the luxurious Holiday Inn at the Burswood Entertainment Complex for our overnight stay.Day 2 Perth - Hyden - Wave Rock & Hippo's Yawn
This morning we depart Perth and travel east through the John Forrest National Park to arrive in York for a wander through the historic York Motor Museum. We continue on to Corrigin and arrive at Hyden mid-afternoon. This tiny town located in York Western Australia's semi-arid wheat belt is home to the fascinating and unique geological formation known as Wave Rock. Tonight we stay at the Hyden Wave Rock Motel.Day 3 Coolgardie - Kalgoorlie
After exploring Wave Rock this morning we continue our travels to the far-east mining district of Kalgoorlie-Boulder. Since 1893, the area has produced approximately 35 million ounces of gold and still has many decades of prosperous mining ahead. While in Kalgoorlie we take an underground mine tour and learn about the history of mining at the Hannan North Mining Hall of Fame. We also take a look at the amazing "Super Pit" which is now 3.5km long, 1.5km wide and 300 meters deep. We spend tonight at the Rydges Kalgoorlie.Day 4 Esperance - Wildflower Farm
This morning we depart Kalgoorlie and trek south through the villages of Kambalda and Norseman to the seaside town of Esperance. We stop a number of times for a closer look at the regions colourful array of wildflowers. This evening we stay at the Comfort Inn Bay of Isles Motel on the foreshore.Day 5 Albany - Stirling Range National Park
Today we begin by taking a tour of the town including Rotary Lookout, the Pink Lake and a 3.6 Mega Watt wind farm. We then continue our travels west to Ravensthorpe before stopping for lunch at Jerramungup. Later this afternoon we visit scenic Bluff Knoll in the majestic Stirling Range National Park before arriving into the whaling town of Albany. We spend the next two nights at the All Seasons Hotel.Day 6 Albany - Whale World - Reef Explorer Cruise
This morning we take a tour of the magnificent whaling museum in Albany, called 'Whale World'. Take an interactive journey through the last operating whaling station in Australia, supported by a series of audio visual displays, artefacts and whaling history. This afternoon we board a catamaran for a spectacular whale watching cruise in Albany's harbour.Day 7 Valley of the Giants - Gloucester Tree - Karri Valley Resort
Today we travel on to the Walpole-Nornalup National Park, home to a grove of veteran Tingle and Karri trees known as the Ancient Empire. These trees are some of the largest in the world with some trees having a 16 metre circumference at the base. Visit the Valley of The Giants Tree Top walk and view these huge Karri and Red Tingle Trees from an elevated board walk, which in some places reaches 120 feet above the ground. Later this morning we arrive at the Gloucester Tree, the highest fire lookout tree in the world. The tree can be climbed by the more adventurous before enjoying a picnic lunch.
This afternoon we pass through Pemberton en route to our accommodation at the Karri Valley Resort. The resort is located on Lake Beedelup and has been fully refurbished. Enjoy a free afternoon at the resort and enjoy activities such as trout fishing, bush walking, canoeing, bike riding and much more. Alternatively, just sit back and relax on your lakeside balcony.
Day 8 Cape Leeuwin - Margaret River
Departing Pemberton this morning we head to Cape Leeuwin where we join a local guide for a tour of an old historic lighthouse. Later this morning we head into Margaret River, Western Australia's premium wine growing region which boasts over 40 world class wineries. Enjoy some free time in the main street before heading to Xanadu Winery for some tasting and a gourmet lunch. Xanadu is one of the premium wineries in Margaret River, winning the 2007 'Winery of the Year' award. Later this afternoon we check in to the Australis Margaret River Resort for our overnight stay.Day 9 Margaret River - Forest Heritage Centre - Fremantle
This morning we make our way north along the coastal road to the village of Dwellingup for lunch. Dwellingup has been the centre of a thriving timber industry since 1910 and is also home to the unique Forest Heritage Centre. This information complex has been constructed from rammed earth and is in the shape of a giant Jarrah bough. This afternoon we journey on to Fremantle where we overnight at the Esplanade Hotel located in the centre of town.Day 10 Fremantle - Captain Cook Cruise - Perth
This morning enjoy a visit to the Western Australian Maritime museum. This spectacular new museum has six themed galleries, one of which houses the famous racing yacht Australia II with the winged keel that won the America's Cup. The museum also houses the retired HMAS Ovens Submarine which was built in 1969 and recently donated to the museum for people to walk through and admire.
This afternoon enjoy a leisurely cruise up the Swan River to Perth. The remainder of the afternoon can be spent at your leisure.
This evening we head out to the Karakamia Wildlife Sanctuary, operated by the Australian Wildlife Conservancy. This was the first property acquired by the AWC. The sanctuary covers 275ha of Jarrah forest and protects at least 15 different species, including the Woylie, Numbat and Quokka. After a BBQ dinner we enjoy a guided nocturnal walk with an AWC guide. We return to the hotel later this evening.
Day 11 Nambung National Park (The Pinnacles) - Kalbarri
This morning we trek north along the Brand Highway to the famous Nambung National Park, home to the interesting formations known as the Pinnacles. Here, thousands of huge limestone pillars rise from the shifting yellow sands, resembling a landscape from a science fiction movie. This afternoon continue north through Geraldton and on to the small scenic town of Kalbarri. We overnight at the Kalbarri Palms Resort.Day 12 Kalbarri National Park - Hamelin Pool - Shark Bay & Monkey Mia
This morning we discover the Kalbarri National Park which covers over 183,000 hectares. This area of Western Australia is also known for its spectacular wildflowers. We then continue on to the Hamelin Pool Marine Nature Reserve, one of only two places in the world with living marine stromatolites, or 'living fossils'. We continue on to Shark Bay where we overnight at the Monkey Mia Dolphin Resort.Day 13 Marine Cruise - Dolphins - Geraldton
World Heritage Listed in 1991, Shark Bay is home to a myriad of marine life. Enjoy a morning wildlife cruise aboard a modern catamaran spotting dugongs, dolphins, sea turtles and more. Later this morning we begin our trek back south along the Brand Highway to Geraldton. Geraldton is a key port and administrative centre for the mid west region of Western Australia. We arrive in Geraldton late afternoon and overnight at the Ocean Centre Hotel situated on the beachfront.Day 14 Wildflower Way & New Norcia
Today we return to Perth via New Norcia, Australia's only monastic town. Here we take a tour though this interesting village which was until recently locked up behind closed doors. We also view a number of wildflowers today as we travel along the "Wildflower Way". We arrive back at the Holiday Inn Burswood late this afternoon. Tonight enjoy a sumptuous farewell dinner at the hotel.Day 15 Perth - Home Ports
This morning we experience a gold pouring at the historical Perth Mint before being transferred to the airport for our return flights home. Bon Voyage!
