Join Outback Spirit in sponsoring our most precious wildlife.

Australian Wildlife Conservancy is an independent, non-profit organisation dedicated to protecting Australia's threatened wildlife and ecosystems.

Currently, AWC owns and manages 20 sanctuaries covering over 6 million acres and over 300 ecosystems. These sanctuaries also protect a significant proportion of Australia's biodiversity, including 72% of all bird species and 67% of all mammal species.

In fact, AWC now protects more terrestrial animal species than any other organisation in Australia.

Funded by tax-deductible donations, the AWC is taking action to protect Australia's wildlife by:

  • Acquiring land to establish sanctuaries for the conservation of threatened species and ecosystems.
  • Implementing practical, on-ground conservation programs such as the eradication of feral animals and the reintroduction of endangered species.
  • Conducting scientific research into key issues affecting biodiversity in Australia.
  • Undertaking public education programs to promote awareness of the plight of Australia's wildlife.
With more than 1,500 animals and plants under threat of extinction, it is now clear that the challenge of saving Australia's biodiversity is too great for Governments acting alone. We at Outback Spirit are immensely proud of our involvement in helping to save Australia's precious wildlife.

In 2009 Outback Spirit donated over $80,000 to AWC.

As a company that works within the natural environment, we wanted to contribute towards saving some of its most precious wildlife. That's why we've committed to donating $20 from each passenger fare for the year to Australian Wildlife Conservancy (AWC). Over the year, this seemingly small amount will add up to a substantial sum of money that will go towards supporting important AWC conservation projects.

Australia has the worst mammal extinction record in the world – 22 mammals have become extinct in the last 200 years. No other country or continent has such a tragic record of mammal extinctions.

AWC's mission is the effective conservation of all Australian animal species and the habitats in which they live.
