Day 1 Home Ports - Broome
Upon your arrival in Broome today you will be greeted at the airport by your friendly and professional touring crew. This afternoon check-in to the Broome Sanctuary Resort at Cable Beach. This evening enjoy a magnificent sunset over the Indian Ocean from Cable Beach followed by a sumptuous welcome dinner at the resort.Day 2 Broome - Fitzroy Crossing
Depart Broome this morning en route to Fitzroy Crossing. After some lunch we will head out to Geikie Gorge for our 1-hour cruise on the Fitzroy River. See ancient fossils in the walls of the gorge indicating that it was once under the ocean many years ago. We head back to Fitzroy Crossing late afternoon to set up our first camp at the Fitzroy River Lodge.Day 3 Fitzroy Crossing - Bungle Bungles
Depart Fitzroy Crossing this morning along the Great Northern Highway en route to Halls Creek. Enjoy a brief town tour and some morning tea before continuing on to the entry point of the Purnululu National Park. Enjoy the scenic drive into the park to arrive at our campground late afternoon. Enjoy camping here for 2 nights while we discover the Bungle Bungles.Day 4 Bungle Bungles - Cathedral Gorge - Echidna Chasm
After the flights we journey to Cathedral Gorge, noted as one of the most beautiful in the East Kimberley region. This afternoon visit Echidna Chasm before returning to the camp for our second night within the Bungle Bungles.
Day 5 Bungle Bungles - Kununurra - Ord River Irrigation Scheme
This morning we depart the Purnululu National Park en route to Kununurra. We arrive in time for some lunch at the Zebra Rock Gallery on the banks of the Ord River. After lunch and a look through the gallery we take a tour of Kununurra and the surrounding irrigated farming country. Learn about the Ord River Irrigation Scheme before checking in to the luxurious Kununurra Country Club Resort. This evening enjoy dinner in the hotel restaurant.Day 6 Kununurra - El Questro Wilderness Park
This morning we enjoy our 3-hour cruise up the Ord River to the Dam Wall of Lake Argyle, a distance of approximately 60km. Enjoy some freshly made morning tea on the banks of the river along the way. Your guide will share their intricate knowledge of the river system with expert commentary.At the conclusion of the cruise head back to Kununurra by road, stopping off at the historic Durack Homestead along the way. This afternoon enjoy some free time in the town centre before heading off to Wyndham. Enjoy a tour of the town and a visit to Five Rivers Lookout before heading to the El Questro Wilderness Park. We arrive at approximately 4.30pm and spend the next 2 nights at Emma Gorge Resort.
Day 7 El Questro Sightseeing
Today we explore parts of El Questro, beginning with an early morning champagne breakfast cruise on Chamberlain Gorge. This is without a doubt one of the highlights of the tour, and is worth getting up a little earlier for! A breakfast of bacon and egg muffins, fruit, tea and coffee is served while cruising up the gorge. Sparkling wine and orange juice is served on return. After the cruise we return to Emma Gorge via Zebedee Thermal Springs, where you'll have the opportunity for a swim amongst the Livingstonia Palms. This afternoon we indulge in a gourmet lunch in the Emma Gorge restaurant before enjoying a free afternoon. Relax by the pool, enjoy a drink at the bar or walk up to the Emma Gorge waterfall (good level of fitness required). Either way, you are sure to appreciate some time to yourself in this magnificent Kimberley setting.Day 8 El Questro - Gibb River Road - Drysdale River Station
This morning we depart El Questro Wilderness Park and begin our long trek along one of the most remote roads in Australia, the Gibb River Road. This unsealed road traverses through the heart of the Kimberley and is close to 700km long. We cross over the Pentecost and Durack Rivers before arriving at the junction of the Kalumburu Road. Enjoy lunch before trekking north to Drysdale River Station for our overnight camp.Day 9 Drysdale - Kalumburu
Today we continue our journey up to Kalumburu, the most northern settlement in Western Australia. We arrive early this afternoon at the historic Kalumburu Mission, and check-in to our overnight accommodation. Enjoy a guided tour of the Mission and learn about the fascinating history of both Kalumburu Mission and Pago Mission. Pago was the site of the original mission that was established back in 1908 on the Kimberley Coast. It was moved to Kalumburu during the 1930's and in 1943 was bombed by the Japanese as it served as a major airbase during the war.
We spend the night here in small air conditioned units with shared bathroom facilities.
Day 10 Kalumburu - Mitchell Plateau
Today we depart Kalumburu and make our way south to the Mitchell Falls turnoff. Cross over the King Edward River and begin ascending the Mitchell Plateau. Enjoy driving through massive stands of Livingstonia Palms before arriving at the Mitchell Falls campground. We set up camp here for the next 2 nights to explore the famous Mitchell Falls.Day 11 Mitchell Plateau Exploring
Today we discover the magnificent Mitchell Falls! Enjoy a guided walk down to the falls via several Aboriginal rock art sites. View rarely seen Bradshaw art and learn of local flora and fauna before arriving at the Mitchell Falls. Enjoy a swim in the pools at the top of the falls and enjoy the amazing view out over the Mitchell River.
This afternoon enjoy a short helicopter flight from the falls back to the coach. (Included in fare). Alternatively you can hike back along the same route. Longer helicopter flights are available at your own expense.
Day 12 Mitchell Plateau - Manning Gorge
Today we bid farewell to the stunning Mitchell Plateau and make our way back out onto the Kalumburu Road. Enjoy lunch at Drysdale River Station before joining back up with the Gibb River Road. We then head west past Gibb River Station to arrive at Manning Gorge late this afternoon. After setting up camp enjoy a nature walk or a swim in this delightful Kimberley setting.Day 13 Manning Gorge - Windjana Gorge
This morning we depart Manning Gorge to continue our journey along the Gibb River Road. Enjoy a visit to Tunnel Creek early in the afternoon where we are able to walk through a 750m underground river that has cut its way under the Napier Range.
We depart Tunnel Creek after some lunch and arrive at Windjana Gorge late in the afternoon to set up our overnight camp. Enjoy a stroll through the gorge before the sun sets.
Day 14 Windjana Gorge - Broome
This morning we enjoy another walk into Windjana Gorge to admire the amazing birdlife and crocodiles. After breakfast we depart the gorge and begin heading towards Derby where we have a town tour including the Boab Prison Tree, Myalls Bore and Cattle Trough and the Old Derby Gaol. Later this morning we depart Derby en route to Broome, stopping off at the Willie Creek Pearl Farm for an informative tour. Here we discover how the Australian South Sea Pearl is produced. This afternoon we continue in to Broome and enjoy a town tour before checking in to the Broome Sanctuary Resort for the final 2 nights of the tour. Before dinner we head down to the beach for a magnificent West Coast sunset.Day 15 Broome Sightseeing
This morning enjoy a visit to the Pearl Luggers Museum for an insight into Broome's pearling history. Afterwards enjoy some free time in Chinatown before lunch at town beach. The remainder of the day can be spent at your leisure. You may wish to visit the beach or simply relax at the resort. Tonight we enjoy a farewell dinner at Zanders Restaurant on Cable Beach as we look back upon an unforgettable adventure through the Kimberley.Day 16 Broome - Home Ports
Today we bid farewell to Broome and the Kimberley. This morning can be spent at your leisure before your transfer to the airport. Bon Voyage!
