Tunnel Creek - Windjana Gorge - Mount Hart Station
This morning we discover two of the Kimberley’s most stunning National Parks; Tunnel Creek and Windjana Gorge. Once the hideout of Jandamarra, an Aboriginal Man who led a resistance against white stockmen in the late 1800’s, Tunnel Creek features a 750m long underground river that runs through to the other side of the Napier Range. Enjoy a walk through this unique geological feature with your tour guides, looking out for bats and stalactites that descend from the roof.
After some morning tea we continue along the Fairfield - Leopold Downs road to Windjana Gorge National Park. Teeming with wildlife, Windjana Gorge has been created by the Lennard Driver cutting its way through the limestone of the Napier Range. In some places the walls of the gorge stand up to 100m above the wide alluvial floodplain below.
Enjoy a wander through the gorge with your guides and a picnic lunch before departing for the historic Mount Hart Station. Located in the King Leopold Conservation Park, the station now features brand new deluxe safari tents with en-suite bathrooms. Overnight Mount Hart Station. (B,L,D)
