Today you will be met at the airport in Broome upon your arrival. Enjoy a town tour before checking in to the luxurious Cable Beach Club Resort & Spa. Enjoy a spectacular Indian Ocean sunset from the resort before your welcome dinner.
This morning we depart Broome and head south along the Great Northern Highway. Pass between the Great Sandy Desert and Eighty Mile beach arriving in Port Hedland later this afternoon. Tonight we overnight at the All Seasons Resort or The Esplanade Hotel.
Port Hedland is one of the largest towns in the Pilbara, and due to the massive mining operations in the region the town is home to Australia's largest tonnage port facility. This morning we take a quick look at BHP Billiton's Ore Crushing and Port facilities before departing for Newman. We arrive late afternoon and check-in to the Seasons Hotel for our overnight stay.
This morning we join a guided tour of the BHP Billiton Mt. Whaleback open cut mine. This is the largest single pit open cut iron ore mine in the world, and is quite spectacular. After our tour we depart Newman and head to the Karijini Eco Retreat. Ideally located in the depths of the breathtaking Karijini National Park, the unique Karijini Eco Retreat is the only permanent accommodation within the park. We spend the next 2 nights here in unique tented cabins with ensuite bathroom facilities.
Today we explore some of the stunning gorges in Karijini National Park. Karijini is the second largest park in Western Australia and is centred on the Hamersley Range. It's famous for its beautiful red gorges, stunning waterfalls and cool swimming holes. A system of walking trails leads us down to some of the best spots where you can take a dip in sparkling rock pools.
We return to the Eco Retreat for lunch before spending the afternoon touring around other sections of the park, including Weano Gorge and Oxer lookout. Return to the lodge mid-afternoon and relax before dinner, or alternatively order a chilled drink from the bar and enjoy the sunset.
This morning we depart the Karijini Eco Retreat and make our way up towards Karratha, a town established in 1968 to service and accommodate the iron ore miners in the Hamersley Ranges. En route we visit Tom Price before stopping off at the magnificent Millstream Chichester National Park, which is characterised by rugged escarpments, tree lined rivers and pristine water pools. The run-off from the Hamersley Ranges flows via the Fortescue River into an underground aquifer that feeds the waterholes within the park. Millstream actually used to be a pastoral lease which ran for over 100 years.
This afternoon we enjoy visits to Deep Reach and Chindewarriner Pools and the Historic Millstream Homestead. We continue on to Karratha late this afternoon and spend the night at the Karratha International Hotel.
This morning we take a look around Karratha before heading out to Dampier. Located 20km from Karratha on King Bay, Dampier was specifically constructed in 1965 as a port and processing centre to meet the needs of the Hamersley Iron mining operations at Tom Price and Paraburdoo. This morning we visit the North West Shelf Project Visitors Centre to learn about Australia's largest resource project, where gas is drilled at offshore platforms 130km north of Dampier. We also pass by a large saltworks before heading south to Exmouth and the Ningaloo Marine Park. We spend the night at the luxurious Novotel Ningaloo Resort.
Ningaloo is an untouched 300km long fringing barrier reef that protects a shallow, brilliant white sandy lagoon of clear tropical waters. It is one of the only places on earth where you are able to walk from the beach straight on to a coral reef.
This morning we journey down to Coral Bay to enjoy a glass bottom boat cruise and discover the amazing underwater environment of the Ningaloo Reef. There is also an opportunity for a snorkelling experience through the clear warm water (equipment is provided). This afternoon we continue heading south to Carnarvon to overnight at the Fascine Lodge.
This morning we depart Carnarvon and journey south to Shark Bay and Monkey Mia. En route we stop off at Hamelin Pool and visit the Old Telegraph Station which is now a museum. We also visit the Hamelin Pool Marine Nature Reserve, one of a few places in the world with marine Stromatolites, or 'living fossils'. After a BBQ lunch we make our way up the Peron Peninsula to Monkey Mia for a catamaran sailing adventure on the World Heritage Listed Shark Bay. Shark Bay is home to an enormous variety of marine life, including dugongs, dolphins, sharks, huge sea turtles and much more.
After the cruise we check-in to the Monkey Mia Dolphin Resort on the beachfront.
This morning we make our way to Denham. Here we visit the Shark Bay World Heritage Discovery Centre, a must see for travellers to the region. The centre utilises artefacts, specimens, models, photo galleries, illustrations and electronic media to introduce visitors to all the major features of Shark Bay, including Indigenous and European culture, maritime and pastoral history, the flora and fauna of the region and much more.
We then depart Denham en route for Geraldton. Geraldton is a key port and administrative centre for the Midwest region of Western Australia. We arrive in Geraldton late afternoon and stay overnight at the Ocean Centre Hotel situated on the beachfront.
This morning we depart Geraldton and head south to one of the most renowned landscapes in Australia, the Pinnacles. Here, thousands of limestone pillars rise from the shifting yellow sands, resembling a landscape from a science fiction movie. Enjoy a wander through these eerie formations before departing for Perth.
We arrive in Perth this afternoon and check-in to the Crown Promenade Perth. This evening enjoy a farewell dinner as we look back on our adventure along the West Coast of Western Australia.
This morning enjoy some free time before being transferred to the airport for your return flights. Bon Voyage!

“These were my first tours with Outback Spirit and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. From booking the tours to departure contact with the office was so easy, friendly and efficient that it was all made so easy. We didn’t just see things we learnt about the area as well, a part of touring that I find very rewarding. Everything was so well organised that for passengers it was all very relaxing leaving all details to such an efficient crew. The places visited and accommodation was all great. I have been through my photos and look forward to sharing the experience with friends and family. I would thoroughly recommend to my friends to travel with Outback Spirit and look forward myself to do further tours with your company.”

“We met Denise and John Findlay prior to our city tour of Perth and immediately we knew we were going to have a wonderful trip. Their skills in all aspects of our trip made for a very enjoyable, informative and very pleasant tour. Our accommodation was first class as were the meals – the variety was great and all very tasty and satisfying. We are so lucky to live in such a wonderful country and your company is doing an amazing job. This is our second trip with Outback Spirit and it will certainly not be our last. Can’t wait before taking off again.”

“We would like to thank you for the provision of an excellent trip again. This includes your staff from initial contact through to now and shows the very high quality of the whole organization be it mechanics, booking consultants, crew etc. We really appreciated the leadership of John & Denise Findlay who made a very long trip a lot of fun as well as doing their roles in an excellent manner. We have been on overseas bus tours where the crew just did their job but with Outback Spirit the crew is a major part of the experience. On our trip nearly all were repeat customers and this shows a credit to your reputation. Many thanks again to all involved.”
