Field of Light
Early risers will experience the sun rising over Uluru and the colours of dawn spreading across the landscape. This morning we’ll also enjoy a guided tour around the base of Uluru, which stands 348 metres above the desert plains. Learn about traditional Anangu culture as you marvel at one of the largest monoliths in the world! After lunch at the resort, we enjoy a free afternoon and prepare for our visit to the incredible ‘Field of Light’ installation, a global phenomenon by acclaimed artist Bruce Munro.
After departing the resort late this afternoon, we arrive at a remote desert location to watch the amazing transformation of colours on Uluru as the sun sets below the horizon. Enjoy drinks and canapes as the last rays of light splash across the desert. After your host provides some insights into ‘Field of Light’, you’ll head off to explore this stunning display via the dedicated pathways.
Aptly named Tili Wiru Tjuta Nyakutjaku (looking at lots of beautiful lights), ‘Field of Light’ features 50,000 slender stems crowned with radiant frosted spheres, spread across an area the size of 7 football fields. As dusk approaches and darkness falls across the desert, ‘Field of Light’ illuminates with dazzling effect, leaving visitors truly in awe.
This evening we return to the hotel for dinner and our final night at Sails in the Desert. (B, L, D)
