Find out moreDepart your home ports to arrive in Broome by 2pm. Upon your arrival at the Broome airport you will be met by your tour leader before boarding your charter flight to the Mitchell Plateau. Enjoy flying over the Buccaneer Archipelago and do a few circuits over the Horizontal Falls. The flight to the plateau takes approximately 2 hours.
Upon your arrival at the Mitchell Plateau airfield you will be picked up and transferred to the luxurious Ngauwudu Safari Camp, Outback Spirit's own exclusive accommodation on the Mitchell Plateau that was built in 2011. Check in to your safari suite and perhaps go for a swim in the crystal clear creek before dinner.
After breakfast this morning we depart for the Mitchell Falls. From the ranger station we embark on a 4 kilometre walk (medium terrain and mostly downhill) which takes us past Little Merten Falls, Big Merten Falls and finally the 3 tiered Mitchell Falls. You'll be accompanied by an expert guide who will share their knowledge of the area's flora and fauna, aboriginal culture and history. Along the way you will visit severl ancient Gwion Gwion (Bradshaw) and Wandjina rock art galleries and also have the chance for a swim in one of the pristine waterholes. As we near the end of the walk you can begin to hear the sound of the spectacular Mitchell Falls. There are several vantage points from which to admire these sensational waterfalls. After a picnic lunch we board our helicopters for a short scenic flight back to the ranger station (included in fare). Viewing the falls from the air is a perfect way to complete your Mitchell Falls experience. Return to the camp for your overnight stay.
